Mr J Adam

Teacher

What qualifications do you have that are relevant to your teaching post?

I graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (Dundee) with a BAHons in Time Based Art and received my PGDE in Secondary Art & Design Education from Strathclyde University (Glasgow).

Between these periods of study I have been employed in a range of different capacities ranging from a salaried AV Technician to a Cook/Baker in an independent cafe.

Can you please tell us how your interest in your subject area has translated into the world outside of school?

I am actively involved in a number of creative communities and personal projects producing work across a range of disciplines; these include illustration, 3D work, music recording/performance, film exhibition and I do greatly enjoy cooking.

Can you summarise what is it about your subject that you love?

I love seeing the positive impact that creativity can have on young people’s lives; as a result of the pleasure and fulfilment experienced from having created something they are proud of. I’ve been passionate about creating since I was at school and it has always brought me immense joy and fulfilment, even when my outcomes were not my best. Being an Art & Design Teacher allows me to support young people through their own creative development and to develop the skills they need to start creating independently. There is nothing more enjoyable than seeing the diversity and imagination of work created by young people in their own time.
