Mrs L Fairbairn

Teacher

What qualifications do you have that are relevant to your teaching post?

I trained as a teacher relatively recently having done a wide variety of jobs including:

·         Training organiser
·         Estate manager
·         Mental Health Nursing Auxiliary
·         Physiotherapy Technical Instructor
·         SSPCA Kennel Person
·         Additional Needs Assistant
·         Foster Carer

I have a particular interest in working with people who experience barriers to everyday life and enjoying finding ways to supporting them.

Can you please tell us how your interest in your subject area has translated into the world outside of school?

I’m passionate about supporting youngsters to reach their potential and pride myself in seeking the best for each young person with whom I work. I ensure that I make links to the world of work through my teaching; ensuring pupils see the relevance of the lesson to the world of work.

Can you summarise what is it about your subject that you love?

In Pupil Support I enjoy the opportunity to be able to support a variety of pupils in a wide range of subject areas. One of the best things about my job is that no two days are ever the same – from supporting with Maths and English to cooking, crafts and swimming, I think that my job has to be one of the most rewarding.
